Press Club of Jammu Condoles demise of Shri Ved Bhasin

Jammu, October 06: Press Club of Jammu (PCJ) Friday condoled the sad demise of veteran journalist and editor Kashmir Times Group of Publications Ved Bhasin. In a condolence meeting held at PCJ premises, rich tributes were paid to the departed soul.

Speaking on the occasion PCJ president Ashwani Kumar, after paying his tributes said that Ved Bhasin was a journalist par excellence. "I knew Ved Ji since my early days of career, and he always was a guiding force for all budding journalists". "His demise has created a void in the journalist fraternity and we have lost a mentor", he said. Ashwini added that Ved Bhasin not only served the journalism in state, but he also was equally affiliated with development of Press Club of Jammu, where he remained president for four terms.

"I had an opportunity to work very closely with Ved Ji during his tenure as president PCJ, and he was very proactive when it came to development of Club", he added.He said Vaidji never asked for any help from the govt machinery and preferred seeking help of his close friends. Secretary General PCJ, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, while remembering his days in Kashmir Times, said that Ved Ji always used to be our role model. "He was a journalist par excellence and besides that he was a great human being", he added.

"Today when journalism has undergone drastic changes and specific beats are being assigned to reporters for coverage, Ved Ji was a encyclopaedia in himself", he said and added that his knowledge in each subject may it be politics, health, environment, Indo-Pak relations etc. was unmatched. "This quality of Ved Ji made him a editor with a difference", he said.

The meeting was attended by vice president PCJ Abhimanyu Sharma, Treasurer PCJ Dinesh Manhotra besides all executive committee members.
